NEJCA over the board chess event – Chess training/talk followed by tournament

This event is open to all young people attending school. All games will be submitted for Chess Scotland Allegro grading.

NEJCA is pleased to announce an over the board chess event with chess talk and tournament. This event is open to all young people attending school in Scotland.

Event venue: Milne Hall, Kirkton of Skene, Aberdeenshire, AB326XE

(The hall is on the road B979, beside Skene Parish Church)



Event format:

1. Registration 1:30 till 1:45 pm. Fee: £5 per participant.

2. Chess training/talk: In groups – Beginner and experienced (depending on number of participants).

3. Chess tournament followed by winner’s prizes: Play as you go, arena type tournament, conducted in two groups – beginner and open (depending on number of participants). In this tournament, players can choose to be paired for the next game as soon as their games are finished. Winners will receive prizes.

Time control: Each player will have 15 min for a game from move 1 (no time increments).

Entry to the event can either be done online here at the entries page or at the venue on the day from 1:30 pm till 1:45 pm.

For online registration, please use the entry page to fill in your details, then use the Pay button to pay by Paypal. Entries will be automatically entered onto the Entries page when the payment has been accepted. There is no fee if you claim free school meals. If you wish to claim free entry, please fill out the form and instead of pressing the pay button at the end, let us know by email that you have filled out the form. If you wish to make an enquiry, please use the Contact page. Please ignore the FIDE details requested on the entry form. Alternatively, players can register on the day at the venue (Fees £5).

The organizers reserve the right to:

1. Take measures deemed necessary to ensure smooth running of the event.

2. Juniors must obtain the permission of a parent/guardian before enrolling.
