Ratings

The February FIDE Rating will be used to determine a player’s FIDE rating. If a player does not have a FIDE Rating, we will use the Chess Scotland grading list.

For players who do not appear in the standard list, other lists may be used at the discretion of the organisers. Ungraded players must provide evidence for the organisers to assess their playing strength and any previous known grade must be declared.

Seedings for the Open and Major B will be determined by FIDE ratings. Where a player does not have a FIDE rating their national rating will be used.

For ECF rated players the conversion that will be applied is as per the CS Chief Grading Officers recommendation. ECF *10+180 = CS, so an ECF player rated 100 will convert to 1180 CS

Conditions of Entry

The organisers reserve the right to:

  • Increase or decrease prize money
  • Transfer entrants between events
  • Split or merge events depending on numbers
  • Withhold prizes from ungraded players if they play in events below their known strength
  • Redistribute prize money from someone who has won multiple prizes as we deem appropriate
  • Redistribute prize money in the event of a tie as we deem appropriate
  • Reserve the right to refuse entry without assigning a reason
  • Take any other measures deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of the congress
