KJCA 2024 Championships - Eligible winners of their section will hold the title of:

'Kent Junior Champion 2024' for U9, U11, U14 and U18

The top scoring eligible girl in each section will win a trophy and the title of 'Kent Junior Girls Champion 2024'

Please enter early. Entries will close at 10pm the day before and there are no entries on the day.

Rate of Play

Each player will have 20 minutes plus a 5 second increment per move from move 1.

Time Table

Please arrive by 9.30am in plenty of time to start the first round promptly.

Round 1: 10.00
Round 4: 13.00
Round 2: 11.00
Round 5: 14:00
Round 3: 12.00
Round 6: 15.00

If play is delayed there will be a 10 minute gap between rounds. There is no official lunch break. There will be a prizegiving as soon as possible after the games finish. We expect to end at approximately 4.30 - 5pm

Refreshments

The school will have the canteen open with light refreshments.

Grading

The latest ECF Rapidplay Grading List will be used to determine a player’s grade.

All sections will be sent for rapidplay grading with the ECF.

Prizes

The winners of the U9, U11, U14 and U18 sections will win a trophy and, if eligible, the title of

'KJCA Champion 2024'.

The top scoring eligible girl in each section will win a trophy and the title of 'KJCA Girls Champion 2024'

There will also be further cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the U14 and U18 sections and well as further trophies and medals in U11 and U9 sections

Pairings, Sections & Clocks

All pairings will be done using swiss-manager software and displayed on chess-results.com Default time is 10 minutes. After which re-pairing may be made for each player whose opponent has not arrived and for any player otherwise having a full-point bye.

In general, sections will not be merged. However, the Chief Arbiter reserves the right to merge if there is an insufficient number of entries in one or more sections. If merged, prizes will still be awarded to the participants of the original individual sections.

Digital clocks will be used in all sections and help will be given to anyone unfamiliar with them.

Behaviour, parental supervision and disclaimers

KJCA is grateful to all venues for the use of their facilities. Please treat the premises with respect and follow all signs and rules as requested.

A high standard of behaviour and respect for others and property is expected at all times. Players entering or leaving the playing area while other games are in progress should do so quietly.

KJCA and its officials are unable to act in loco parentis for children. Parents/guardians/carers are responsible for their children throughout the entire duration of this event. Children under the age of 8 must remain under sole parental supervision throughout. Supervision of children over the age of 8 and teenagers may be shared between adults. However, parents/guardians should note that they are still ultimately responsible for their children and their behaviour at this event.

KJCA has adopted the ECF Child protection policy which can be found on the ECF website.

KJCA and helpers accept no responsibility for any damage, theft or accident to the person or property of any competitor, trainee or other visitor at this event. Nor are they responsible for the effects of actions of anyone else attending this event.

KJCA collects personal data solely for the purposes of our events. This is for administration and to inform you of future junior chess events. We share some data with the English Chess Federation for grading purposes. Results, grades and photos may be used on the KJCA website, social media pages or in publicity.
