ECF Pay to play fee:

Bronze or none members of the English Chess Federation (ECF) pay an additional £9.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

  • Entries received after Thursday 17 February 2022, if accepted, will require additional £5 late entry fee.
  • Entries received after 18:00 Saturday 19 February 2022, if accepted, will require additional £10 'On the day fee'.

    Pairings

  • In all sections players will be paired using Swiss-Manager. Pairings will be posted at www.chess-results.com and at the venue. No discussion will be entered into concerning the pairings.
  • All boards in all sections will play using digital clocks at a rate of 20 minutes and 10 second increments.
  • Nobody gets knocked out and players are expected to play all five rounds.
  • If a player needs to leave early, please inform the controllers prior to leaving or upon your arrival if possible.

    Rating

  • The January ECF Rapid Play Rating List will be used to determine a player's rating. A players OTB rapid rating will be used, but if they do not have one, then their online rapid rating will be used. For players who do not appear in the Rapidly List, other lists may be used at the discretion of the organisers. Unrated players must provide evidence for the organisers to assess their playing strength and any previous known rating must be declared (players who have never been rated do not need to).
  • Rating Information - It is a condition of entry that players agree to their rating information being published on the ECF website.

    Other Information

  • No player may win more than one prize. In all sections the winners, in the event of a tie for first place, will be split according to tie break.
  • It is recommended that all players in all sections record their games. If you are unable to record then there is a great video on how to here: "https://www.chesskid.com/videos/how-to-keep-score-algebraic-notation"
  • If a player wishes to be considered for selection for a Wey Valley Team they should enter the correct championship section regardless of what their ECF rating is or if they do not have one.
  • If a player would like to play to gain experience, try a tournament for their first time, are new to chess, have not played much chess, are a beginner they should enter the correct minor section regardless of what their ECF rating is or if they do not have one.
  • Contact details will be stored on a computer for sending out details of future events organised by www.chessentriesforall.com.
  • Free Parking at the school.
  • All mobile phones / alarms must be turned off and not on your person during play or in the playing hall while games are still in progress.
  • A player may withdraw at any point up to close of early bird entry, Thursday 17th January subject to a £7 administration fee. Withdrawal subsequent to this date forfeits the full entry fee.
  • Refreshments, we managed to find someone willing to sell refreshments on the day, such as hot and cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, kids lunch packs (only available for advance order).  A list with prices will be emailed to all entrants on the Thursday before the event for parents to pre-order if they wish to ensure they get their preferences.
  • A day or two before the event we will email all entrants players details and other useful information, please check your child's details are correct and let us know of any errors or emissions.

  • In all disputes the decision of the arbiter is final.
