Please enter early. A late payment fee becomes payable during the last week of entry. We will only accept on the day entries by prior arrangement.

ECF to FIDE conversion formula

To convert your old ECF grade to FIDE ELO, use the following conversion 7.5*ECF+700 = FIDE

Rate of Play

Each player will have 60 minutes plus a 30 second increment per move from move 1.

* Times may vary if the previous round was long. Players will be allows a minimum 20 minutes between rounds.

Venue

Civic Centre, West Paddock, Leyland, Lancashire, PR25 1DH.

It is a modern conference venue and is less than 10 minutes from the M6 Exit 28.
Free public Wi-Fi is available.

Exit the motorway at junction 28, turn left (from north or south) towards Leyland. Go straight across at the double roundabout onto King Street. Pass the Commercial Vehicle Museum on your left and then you come to a set of traffic lights. Turn left at the lights. Continue along Towngate, through the traffic lights and follow the road right into Lancastergate. At the end of the road, turn left and first right onto West Paddock. The Civic Centre is on your right, go past the Civic Centre to enter the car park at the rear of the building.

Refreshments

Water, tea and coffee will be available free throughout the day for players and parents as this is included in the entry fee, you may wish to bring your own cup.

Rating/Grading

The March rating lists (FIDE and ECF) will be used to determine a player's rating. We will use the highest of FIDE and ECF to determine the players entry into the rated restricted tournaments. Other lists will be used if appropriate. For players who do not appear in the Standard list, other lists may be used at the discretion of the organisers. Unrated players must provide evidence for the organisers to assess their playing strength and any previous known rating must be declared. The organisers reserve the right to place unrated players in the section they feel appropriate.

Rating Information – It is a condition of entry that players agree to their rating information being published on the ECF website and the FIDE website.

Pairings

20 minutes after the start of each round, new pairings may be made for each player whose opponent has not arrived and for any player otherwise having a full-point bye if they wish to play a game. Absent players will be defaulted after 20 minutes.

COVID safety arrangements

  • Players must not attend if they have Covid symptoms
  • Players must not attend if they have tested positive for COVID, or are required to self-isolate
  • Spectators, and players who have finished their game, are not allowed in the playing hall.
