We are hoping to run a number of tournaments during the year of which this is the third. It will be used to determine the County champions at under 11 and under 18 level and also as a trial for the EPSCA inter county tournament on 15 March . The Monarchs section is for those who secondary school students . The Knights section is for improving players aged under 11 and pawns is for beginners also aged under 11 ie primary age. All dates are based on ages as at 1 September 2024.
All players need to be ECF gold members - it is free for the first year. Players also need to understand how chess pieces move!
We may combine the age groups if we do not get enough players. As with all our tournaments we may have to be flexible depending on entries. Entries cost £10 unless received after after 22 January 2025 in which case they cost £15. Entrants are allowed a half point bye in round 1 which may help those of you who are attending football tournaments or Parkruns. Contact the organiser if this is required. All profits are used for the development of junior chess in Derbyshire. The organiser reserves the right to make changes to the rules to make the tournament run more smoothly.
