1st Barnstaple RapidPlay Chess Congress

Free parking is available at the venue (the car park can hold in the region of 50 cars).

The entry fee shown above is for players who are current ECF members at the new combined Silver/Gold membership level. An ECF Pay to Play grading fee of £15 must be paid by all players who are not Gold members or higher (the ECF Pay to Play fee for juniors is £6). It is recommended that players obtain the new Adult or Junior Gold ECF membership before entering.

Ratings
The September 2024 ECF standard rapidplay list will be used for entry/eligibility purposes. Other lists may be used at the organisers discretion. Players without a grade must give full information regarding playing strength, including their best previous results and/or their highest grade.Rate of Play and Pairings
All games must be completed in 25 minutes plus a 5 second increment per move for each player. Missing players will be defaulted after 10 minutes from the start of a round. Players can request a bye (half a point) to be taken in rounds 1-5Conditions
- FIDE Rules of Chess apply and the Arbiters decision is final.
- Organisers reserve the right to refuse an entry without giving reason.
- All games will be ECF rapidplay rated and ratings published on the ECF website.
- Prizes may be withheld from ungraded players if they play in events below their known strength.
- If a player qualifies to win more than one prize, then only the higher value prize will be awarded.
- Unrated players are not eligible for a rating prize.
- A prize may be redistributed in whole or in part if a competitor has won or shared another prize.
- Standard play grades will be used when Rapidplay grades are not listed in the current grading list.
- Mobile phones must be switched off in the playing area. If a mobile phone rings the player will be given a warning. If this happens a second time the player will default their current game.
- Photographs may be taken at the event for publicity purposes.
