6 Round Rapidplay ECF rated Swiss Chess Tournament

For Children aged 18 & under as of 1st September 2024

Please enter early, event is restricted to 40 players, once it's full it's full!
We are hoping to run a number of tournaments during the year of which this is the first. The Monachs section is for those who are aged over 11 but under 18 ie secondary school students except for year 7. The Knights section is for improving players aged under 12 and pawns is for beginners also aged under 12 ie primary age and year 7 pupils. All dates are based on ages as at 1 September 2024.
All players need to be ECF gold members - it is free for the first year and understand how chess pieces move!

  • 10.30am - Registration
  • 11am - Round 1
  • 12pm - Round 2
  • 1pm - Round 3
  • 2pm - Round 4
  • 3pm - Round 5
  • 4pm - Round 6
  • 5pm to 530pm prize giving and finish

    We may combine the age groups if we do not get enough players. As this is the first tournament we have run we may have to be flexible depending on entries. Entries cost £10 unless received after after 24 September 2024 in which case they cost £15. All profits are used for the development of junior chess in Derbyshire

    CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

    • All players in the tournament except MUST have a valid and up to date ECF Junior Gold membership
    • Please register on the ECF website first if not already a member. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OR RENEW YOUR ECF MEMBERSHIP.
    • Once the entry form is filled in this website will send you to PayPal to complete payment.

      Pairings

    • All boards in all sections will play using digital clocks at a rate of 15 minutes each with 10 seconds added per move.

      Rating

    • The September 2024 ECF Rapid Play Rating List will be used to determine a player's rating.

      Other Information

    • There is limited free parking at the venue.

    • We suggest you bring food and drink. The controller of this tournament is Alan Kennedy who runs it on behalf of the Derbyshire Chess Association.

    • Parents are responsible for their children during the tournament, the tournament arbiters and helpers are not to act as "In loco parentis" and are not able to take responsibility for any child's actions or for the actions of anyone that may affect your child.
