FIDE Registration

Players in the Open, Major, Inter or Minor, who do not have a Fide Identification Number (FIN) at the time of the tournament, will be registered with FIDE as federation ENG - ENGLAND.

Obtaining a FIDE ID Number in advance

You may wish to obtain a FIDE Identification Number (FIN) in advance of the event - this will help the process of rating and is to be encouraged!

The ECF provide a process for doing this - please head to this ECF Form to request a new FIN from FIDE, via the ECF.

Before requesting a new FIN, please check that you do not already have one. As more and more tournaments are now FIDE rated, it becomes more and more likely that you may have a FIN!
