Ratings

The December 2023 FIDE Allegro Rating will be used to determine a player’s rating.

If a player does not have a FIDE Rating, we will use the Chess Scotland Allegro grading list.

For players who do not appear in the standard list, other lists may be used at the discretion of the organisers. Ungraded players must provide evidence for the organisers to assess their playing strength and any previous known grade must be declared.

FIDE Identification Number (FIN)

The results of the FIDE-rated sections of this event will be submitted to FIDE, the world chess federation. Players in these sections need to be registered with FIDE to allow the results to be submitted. All players in the FIDE-rated sections must have a FIDE Identification Number (FIN). Chess Scotland can register players who are eligible for Scotland (SCO) – eligibility rules here.

List of SCO registered players can be found here.

Please read the notes on eligibility at the above link, complete the application form on the Chess Scotland website and send it to the Chess Scotland Rating Officer. Please get a FIN from your home federation if not eligible for a Scotland registration.

Seedings for the Premier and Major will be determined by FIDE ratings. Where a player does not have a FIDE rating their national rating will be used.
