Unrated players will be asked to give evidence of their playing strength or they may be moved to a higher section or withdrawn. Please enter early. A late payment fee becomes payable on September 20th.

Each player will have 20 minutes plus a 10 second increment per move from move 1.

Rating

The September 2025 ECF Rapidplay Rating List will be used to determine a player’s rating. For players who do not appear in the Rapidplay List, other lists may be used at the discretion of the organisers. Ungraded players must provide evidence for the organisers to assess their playing strength and any previous known grade must be declared.

Grading Information – It is a condition of entry that players agree to their grading information being published on the ECF website.

Prizes

The organisers reserve the right to redistribute in whole or in part any prize won by a competitor who has won or shared a prize. In the event of a tie for performance prizes, the lower rated player will win the prize for U2000/U1600/U1200

Pairings

Ten minutes after the start of each round, new pairings may be made for each player whose opponent has not arrived and for any player otherwise having a full-point bye. Absent players may be defaulted after 10 minutes.

COVID Arrangements

  • If there are government restrictions at the time of the event, they will apply at the Rapidplay
  • Players must not attend if they have Covid symptoms and a full refund will be given
  • Players must not attend if they have tested positive for COVID in the last 7 days, or are required to self-isolate
  • Spectators, and players who have finished their game, are not allowed in the playing hall.
