Please note. Entries are only accepted when payment has been receive, cash/cheque/bank transfer/online. Unrated players will be asked to give evidence of their playing strength or they may be moved to a higher section or withdrawn. Please enter early. A late payment fee becomes payable on Wednesday 16th, plus an additional 'On the day fee' for those who enter after the entry date cut-off.
Each player will have 20 minutes plus a 5 second increment per move from move 1.

The venue is only 10 minutes from the M6 Exit 28.
Light refreshments are available and there is free car parking.
Exit the motorway at junction 28, turn left (from north or south) towards Leyland. Go straight across at the double roundabout onto King Street. Pass the Commercial Vehicle Museum on your left and then you come to a set of traffic lights. Turn left at the lights. Continue along Towngate, through the traffic lights and follow the road right into Lancastergate. At the end of the road, turn left and first right onto West Paddock. The Civic Centre is on your right, go past the Civic Centre to enter the car park at the rear of the building.
Free Tea and coffee will be available during the day, please bring your own lunch or buy from a local supermarket.
The February ECF Rapidplay Rating List will be used to determine a player’s rating. For players who do not appear in the Rapidplay List, other lists may be used at the discretion of the organisers. Ungraded players must provide evidence for the organisers to assess their playing strength and any previous known grade must be declared.
Grading Information – It is a condition of entry that players agree to their grading information being published on the ECF website.
The organisers reserve the right to redistribute in whole or in part any prize won by a competitor who has won or shared a prize.
Ten minutes after the start of each round, new pairings may be made for each player whose opponent has not arrived and for any player otherwise having a full-point bye. Absent players will be defaulted after 10 minutes.
COVID Arrangements
- If there are government restrictions at the time of the event, they will apply at the Rapidplay
- Players must not attend if they have Covid symptoms and a full refund will be given
- Players must not attend if they have tested positive for COVID in the last 7 days, or are required to self-isolate
- We ask everyone to wear a face covering within the building (unless medically or age-exempt)
- Spectators, and players who have finished their game, are not allowed in the playing hall.
